A journal for people who have tried everything except writing it down.
You already know the advice. Cooler room, no screens, same time every night. You have probably tried most of it, in some order, for about a week.
The advice is not the problem. The problem is that it was written for an average sleeper, and there is no such person. Your evenings, your work, your head at 2am: none of that is average.
Martian SleepOS™ is a 90-day programme in a book. It starts by working out how you actually sleep, then changes one thing at a time until the nights hold. No tracking rings, no apps, no optimising. Just paper, a pen, and ninety days of paying proper attention.
Why we made this
We have been selling sleep products for nine years. Pillows, mostly, and the things that go around them.
Long enough to learn something slightly awkward for a company in our line of work: a very good pillow does not fix a bad sleeper. We heard the same thing hundreds of times. The pillow arrived, it was lovely, and they were still awake at 1am. The pillow was never the problem. The problem was the hour before bed, the coffee at four, the phone, the light, and the fact that Tuesday and Saturday looked nothing alike.
Sleep is a system. Bedding is one part of it, and it is the part we happen to sell, but the rest of it is behaviour, timing, environment, and what your head does when you put it down. Nine years of paying attention to all of it is what sits behind this book.
We are not doctors and we do not claim to be. What is in here is built on published sleep research, referenced at the back so you can check any of it, and arranged into ninety days you can actually work through rather than a list of things you already know you should be doing.
How it runs
Three phases across ninety days. The first twenty-eight are diagnosis plus your first deliberate changes. The middle stretch builds on what the diagnosis found. The final thirty-four turn it into something you no longer have to think about.
The seven pillars
The programme is built on the RECLAIM Sleep Protocol: Ritual, Environment, Core, Levers, Activation, Intervals, Mind. Seven pillars, one at a time, in the order that works. The journal explains each one properly when you get to it.

Made properly
Recycled PU leather cover in Midnight Blue, soft-touch matte laminate, hot-stamped in champagne gold and pewter silver. Hardcover, Smyth-sewn, so it opens flat at day 61 as easily as day 1. 100gsm FSC-certified paper. Two 10mm GRS-certified rPET ribbon markers, an rPET elastic closure, and a pen loop on the back cover, because a journal without a pen nearby is a journal you stop using.
Boxed in FSC-certified kraft, wrapped in kraft tissue, sealed with the Somnus constellation.
About the images
What you are looking at is a visualisation, not a photograph. The specification above is settled and the finished book will be recognisably this, but small things may shift on the way to press: the exact shade of a foil, the finish on the cover, a detail of the interior layout. Where something changes, it will be because a physical sample told us it should. Anything significant, we will email you about before despatch.
